Day 7

I don't have much tonight. I will tell you that today I did something that I've never done before. I cut up and cooked a pumpkin. (I had help, but still) And tomorrow I'm going to make almost homemade pumpkin pie. I bought the pie crust. I got the recipe that my mom uses (and it's the best) and I'm venturing out. Hope it turns out or we'll be having store bought pumpkin pie on Sunday.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Goodnight!

I did my first pumpkins this year too. So easy! My freezer is packed with pumpkin!
On my to do list for this winter is to learn to bake pie pastry. It can't be that hard can it? I figure if I could teach myself how to bake buns I could probably figure the pastry thing out, but we'll see...

If you can do buns you can do pie pastry no problem. I make my own buttertart shells, that's easy. The Tenderflake recipe is great. I made pies once, but the bottoms didn't bake enough and the tops looked funny. But I think it's easier than buns! I'm gonna try again when I have more time. The 2 or 3 times I've tried buns they didn't turn out very good so I quit trying. So my opinion is that pies are easier than buns. But that's just my opinion.

I love having stuff in my freezer that I prepared myself! You'll have to share all your great pumpkin recipes!
